We're Not Doomed!
The Scottish are some of the happiest people in Europe, according to a recent survey.
According to a poll of 24 countries, the Scottish are the third happiest people in the continent after the Swiss and Danes, and the happiest country in the UK. Ukraine and Bulgaria where the least happy.
On a ten-point scale of "Life satisfaction", the Scottish had 8.06, while the UK as a whole only scored 7.2. This figure was split into five different categories: job, family, standard of living, life as a whole and happiness.
The survey also found that Scottish women were happier than Scottish men. People were also happier as they got older. Other factors for increasing happiness included having money, higher education, living in rural areas, working for small companies, and long-term relationships.
The news comes just after it was reported that despite the current problems with the economy, unemployment in Scotland was still falling and house prices were still rising.
