2007 Diagram Prize nominees announced
The nominations for the 2007 Diagram Prize have been announced. The Prize is given to the oddest book title.
There are currently six titles up for the prize. You can vote for the following on "The Bookseller" magazine website. The contenders are:
* "I Was Tortured by the Pygmy Love Queen" by Jasper McCutcheon - A sexual novel featuring an Second World War U.S. Navy fighter pilot who is tortured by a pygmy tribe lead by a female Westerner.
* "How to Write a How to Write Book" by Brian Paddock - A guide on writing books, which cover the subject of writing other books.
* "Are Women Human? And Other International Dialogues" by Catharine A. MacKinnon - A book about women's rights, and if women are human in regards to international law.
* "Cheese Problems Solved" by P.L.H McSweeney - A guide that answers frequently asked questions about cheese and cheese making.
* "If You Want Closure in Your Relationship, Start With Your Legs" by Big Boom - A guide making a loving relationship, given by a former pimp and hustler.
* "People who Mattered in Southend and Beyond: From King Canute to Doctor Feelgood" by Dee Gordon - A history book about people from the town of Southend.
Last year, the prize went to Julian Montague's book, "The Stray Shopping Carts of Eastern North America: A Guide to Field Identification", which contained photographs of abandoned shopping trolleys.
The first award was given in 1978. The first winner was "Proceedings of the Second International Workshop on Nude Mice".
